Why americans dont want universal medical insurance and free?!

Question:

Why americans dont want universal medical insurance and free?

I come from Spain, the system is cool there.Everybody can go to the doctor when they need it, some few abuse, it's normal, but the people are generally healthier by that. I have seen that system all my life and now living here, its abusive, the doctors want more and more money, how much money they gain? an ambulance to a friend = $2,800. Health is not economy, don't play with human life. Well, don't say me "go back to Spain", i think i'll do soon but i'm here just for my boyfriend....

Answers:

Hillary Clinton offered the country a system of national health care, but the drug, hospital, and insurance industries knew their engorged profits were going to be reined in, so they launched the most expensive advertising campaign in history to convince the public that not going bankrupt when you got sick was not for them. It worked. Talk radio chimed in, labeling her as some kind of pushy idiot for trying to head off a serious, developing problem. So the country got no national health care. Now, people get health insurance where they work, and when they get sick and can't work any more their health insurance goes away and they have no money to pay for getting better. But thats what the public wants. Fine. If they are that stupid maybe its for the best.

A second chance for national health care came when Mrs. Clinton's husband President Clinton left the treasury with a surplus that could have paid for a national health care plan. But unfortunately crooked Republican judges on the supreme ct stole the 2000 election for Mr. Bush and he gave the money to billionaires in the form of tax cuts and of course his war must be paid for as well. Two chances, two good chances, and the American people let it slip thru their fingers. Not too bright. It will literally cost millions of people their lives when their health insurance goes away.
