I feel myself getting dehydrated every hour or so, what's going on?!?!

Question:

I feel myself getting dehydrated every hour or so, what's going on?!?

For the last 3 or 4 days, I've been chugging water like crazy. It's extremely hot where i live, but I'm not outside much. I will be sitting and feel myself physically going downhill, exactly the way I feel when I'm dehydrated. Dry mouth, extreme fatigue, eyes hurt (no anxiety) - then I'll go get some water, drink a large glass, and I start feeling better shortly after. But it just keeps happening! I've already had 4 glasses of water and I just did it again. I don't understand... anyone have any ideas? It wouldn't concern me except that I FEEL myself slipping toward dehydration. Normally it's not so drastic. It's freaking me out.

ok, sounds probably. I haven't eaten anything today. When I don't eat, I feel REALLY bad. (no fasting for me) - I get anxiety, and feel sort of like I do when I'm dehydrated. Makes sense. However, it seems strange to me that when I don't eat as soon as my body says it's hungry that I feel so bad. Could that also be a sign of sugar problems?

I'm in the hot louisiana sun too. :)

Answers:

If you haven't eaten, then your blood sugar may not be stable, and if you are already hypoglycemic or diabetic, then you will suddenly feel sluggish and very thirsty off and on until your blood sugar stablilizes. I deal with it everytime I eat something really sweet or go without eating b/c I'm hypoglycemic. Oh, and you can't just go to the doctor and get your finger pricked to test for it. You need to take a glucose tolerance test that tests how well your system is dealing with sugar. Give it a week or so to see if the problem clears up on its own b/c it may be due to the sudden swell in temperature, but if the problem persists, you should get your sugar checked.
