I believe you mean maggot. Maggots typically eat rotting or rotten flesh only. Unless the navel is rotten or infected I don't think that there will be too much to worry about.
Here's an interesting note: Maggots are sometimes used in wound healing. They place specially raised maggots on the infected wound and the maggots eat the infected skin leaving the healthy skin intact. Yuck, right? It's true though.
