Tingling/numbness/pain EVERYWHERE?!

Question:

Tingling/numbness/pain EVERYWHERE?

Recently, it seems like my mother has been falling apart. She's been to the doctor, but her primary physician is a moron. We're in the process of looking for a new one, but that could be a while since no one seems to be accepting new patients. If anyone could help me out in the meantime or give me some advice on what's wrong with her, it would be much appreciated. Here are her symptoms:

- sharp, stabbing pains in her legs and feet - so much that she wakes up during the night
- almost constant tingling/numbness in her shoulders, lower back, arms, hands, legs and feet
- swollen lower legs and ankles; not even water pills or soaking them will help
- constantly cold, no matter what the temperature is
- thick, dry, brittle nails - two of her toenails just fell off during the winter
- very severe dry eye; has perscription and steriod drops

My mother is a 50-year-old, Caucasian woman. She's 5-5 or 5-6 and a size 14/16. She works two jobs, one where she sits at a desk all day and the other where she is constantly on her feet. She has a family history of vericos/spider veins and heart problems. She also had a full hysdirectemy 12 years ago and has taken supplements ever since.

Answers:

The truth is NO ONE should be trying to diagnose this over the internet. Your mom needs to be seen in person, and that person needs her complete medical history, as well as all prescriptions she is on, amongst other things to diagnose what is possibly going on with her.

As someone in the medical field, if anyone but a doctor (not someone on the net) tries to give their 2 cents on this, ignore it. No health care professional would dream of trying to determine whats going on over the internet.

If you have a long wait until you can find a better doctor, at least get her to a clinic so they can begin some testing and deal with some of her medical issues.
