is it normal to have a headache after morphine?!

Question: Is it normal to have a headache after morphine?
Ok 2 days ago I went to the ER with a pain on my lower right abdomin. I was given morphine for the pain (I have never had morphine before in my life). They went through the blood work and urine test and they said everything was fine so stayed at a friends house that night. I have been having some intense headaches latly and they werent even there until this morning.( Its almost Day 3) and im still having a headache. I also had some chest pain which seems to come and go.They told me to spend day 1 on a liquid diet and day 2 on a bland diet. Basically I just want to know if its the morphine that is giving me such a bad headache

Answers:

Although Morphine is a great pain reliever, it can cause headaches as many Opioid products can. An Opioid is a better choice for general and acute pain other than headaches. Headaches are a known side effect than can happen with Morphine and Morphine related medications

I am a Pharmacist.

yes, sometimes morphine can elevate your blood pressure which causes headaches. this may not be a medication that you take without side effects. don't use it anymore you can ask for something different your healthcare isn't just for your doctor to dicide for you, also ask about the side efficts of the medication you are about receive.
