How long do staples?!
Question:
How long do staples?
usually stay in after abdominal surgery ( laparotomy) ? The surgeon said 5 days . When I went to the family Dr today, she said no way they were coming out at until at least next Tuesday. That would be day 9. Does this sound right?
Answers:
I know when I had my abdominal surgery they came out around day five... but I was also told before hand that I would come in and they would see how it was healing and go from there... if it was healing well they would remove them if not they would leave them in a bit longer. So it may just depend on how your healing and I guess it could also always depend on your doctors views and opinions everyone seems to be different in certain belief's.
But, realistically I guess I would rather have them in longer than not long enough if you know what I mean. LOL ;) I know I felt nervous with 5 days taken them out and I had a 7" incision up and down while 5 months pregnant the nurse was laughing trying to reassure me my guts weren't gonna fall out and it wasn't gonna pop open from the baby kicking.
