What is causing weakness in my foot/ankle?!

Question:

What is causing weakness in my foot/ankle?

About a week ago I was playing tennis and my ankle felt weak, almost like it buckled. I kept playing and for about 10 minutes couldn't really run on it very much because it would hurt--it felt like it buckled and stay buckled, but the pain was only mild. I got over it, but the pain comes back randomly. I will be walking and taking a step off of the same foot, and the pain will come back. When it happens I can't put much weight on the ankle. I iced it a few times since then. But now I have a dance recital in four days where i need to be in peak shape. What's wrong with my foot and how can I make it better?

Answers:

I can't say for sure the best thing to do is go to the dr. When my ankle kept turning for aparrently no reason it turned out that a sprain had not healed properly and 10 yrs of constant turning had overstretched a ligament. If I had seen a dr earlier physical therapy may have strengthed it but I ended up having surgery. It could be a problem with a tendon or ligament or any number of things. It is best not to wait especially since it sounds like you are very active. Left untreated it will most likely get worse. For now ice and compression. You can also try stretches
