Bent toe after deep cut and stitches?!

Question:

Bent toe after deep cut and stitches?

On Monday I cut my toe really deep on my bed frame to the point where I had to maintain more blood than I could until I finally made it to the hospital and got it stitched. The cut was 4cm all the way around, apparently. I've had it bandages since then, and decided I would just take them off now since they were getting uncomfortable. I had been walking on the side of my left foot since the stitches so as no pressure would be on that toe.

Today when I removed the bandages I noticed that the toe, being the forth one on my right foot is bent. The rest are somewhat straight, but this one hides halfway behind my third toe. It's uncomfortable when I focus on it. I also noticed a little swelling on this toe.

Does this only look bent because of the stitches and swelling, or is it going to stay like this?

Thanks.

Sorry, typo, I said left foot when it was the right foot.

Answers:

It has probably been swollen since your accident. However, there might have been some tendon damage. If that's the case it might stay bent somewhat but give it time to heal before you start to worry. I would bet that in a month or two you will never know anything had happened. Good luck and I sure hope you feel better soon.
