very chesty cough but doctor keeps saying?!

Question: Very chesty cough but doctor keeps saying?
hi i seem to keep getting this real chesty cough since christmas i seem to get rid of it for about a week then its back again.

It's the type that once i start coughing i cant stop and it is ripping the chest out of me feels like my chest and throat are tore after coughing and then i do have a pain in my chest & back after it

I have been to my gp and he keeps saying that its not asthma or anything.

So my question is do you think i should demand a chest xray i cant understand why it keeps coming back if there is not an underlying issue

Answers:

did he give u a peak flow meter test? it sounds like the symptoms i had before i was diagnosed and the back and chest ache sounds about right. if its been this long defo go and ask for an xray or a diff opinion :/ is the cough worse at night? or when you run?
it does sound like asthma a lot!

Asthmatic

If you think it's necessary then go ahead. Also if you or your insurance can afford to cover the price of an x-ray I think it would be a good idea.
