Question: Do i have carpel tunnel?
well last year i had a suspected broken scaphoid for a second time. I was put in a cast for 7 weeks and it was removed. now a year on I suffer from chronic pain in my wrist just below my thumb .which prevents me from playing guitar ( its my chord hand) .
The cold / hot pain i get has also started to happen to me when im using my hand in college. ( im an animation student) so its NOT GOOD!
if any one has ever had a post injury like this HELP!

Signs and symptoms for carpal tunnel include pain in the palm and numbness/tingling of the thumb, index and middle finger.
Scaphoid fractures are slow healing fractures and difficult to see on x-rays; so it may not have been completely healed, you could have residual effects of that.
You may also have tendonitis of the wrist/thumb which could result from overuse after being in a cast for 7 weeks.
Bottom line is it could be a number of things, and you should seek the guidence of a health care professional.
While I am not a Dr. this does not sound like Carpal Tunnel. Carpal Tunnel generally involves the nerve to the hand for the thumb and first 2 fingers., It is caused by overuse and generally will wake you at night with severe pain and the area feeling"dead". I would suggest that you see your Dr. He may have some options for you including a referral to se a Physical Therapist for your hand. They Will help with exercises to make it less painful and more functional. Good luck.
