My wrist hurts?!

Question:

My wrist hurts?

Okay so a bit of background. I have a cyst on my right wrist (a ganglion sist) and it has never caused much pain if any. My bone/joint in my wrist is not a "ball" say x-rays, but rather a hollow cup missing the filling and other half. It's been that way since burth and the cyst formed 8 years ago which my dr. said was what was holding my wrist together. This dr. was a bad dr. though and misdiagnosed my mom's thyroid and several other issues. So I woke up this morning and my husband handed me my son in one hand and I used my right hand to lift his bottle to his mouth and I dropped the bottle and screamed. There was nothing wrong last night, this just started when I woke up. I can't move my fingers and the little I can move hurts into my joint.I cannot flex my wrist either. Just arthritus or something serious?

Well Princess no, I haven't been to a dr.over it since last year because I don't have insurance yet (starts in two months) and I don't live off the state and my motto is you don't buy something you can't pay for.

Answers:

i would definatly go see an orthopedic doctor for this problem, it could just be as simple as a ganglion cyst, but they will take an xray just to make sure that you dont have arthritis. for ganglions, all they have to do is aspirate it (take out all the goop inside the cyst) for about 50% of patients it never comes back for them and they feel great afterwards, the other 50% have to have them surgically removed because it keeps coming back. If it is removed surgically it will never come back again. I wouldnt worry about it though, you are better the next day after surgery. but like i said go see an ortho dr. good luck! ( we see these kind of patients all the time!)
