Why do I get a sore throat after doing exercises?!

Question: Why do I get a sore throat after doing exercises?
Okay so i just started doing some work out routines and they are working great, except after i do situps the back of my tongue, down near my throat, gets really sore and also the tendons in my neck. Anyone have a solution to fixing this?

Answers:

Two things come to mind:
- Are you breathing hard through your throat? This can dry out your mouth and throat.
- Are you doing the situps properly? Supporting your neck/head with your hands? If not, of course your neck hurts (the tongue is a muscle and can cramp, too)!

I used to get this too, it could have been several things for me.
A) Dehydration, make sure when working out you are drinking at least 2 bottles of water.
B) Your neck and chest area may be weak, the pain in your neck sometimes is caused by your back, pelvis or chest. The spinal cord is the cause of this outstretch of possibilities.
C) You may have pulled a muscle.

Either way check with the doctor and if they seem to say it's okay then next go and get a light lower and upper back and neck massage then make sure you do some back and neck strengthening work outs for a few weeks and you should notice an improvement.
I know I did hopefully it works for you too.
Good luck :)

My Advice. Drink some water your probably a little dehydrated and as for your neck if your not use to doing exercises or you just happen to turn the wrong way you might have pulled a muscle.

You are straining your neck muscles when you do sit ups hence the pain. Start off doing stomach crunches which should stop straining your neck so much then as the muscles get stronger you can build up to full sit ups.
Hope that helps

heavy breathing + heat + perspiration /dehydration = dry, sore throat... drink something something sticky that will coat your throat like juice, not just water.
sore neck = cooling off and reducing activity too quickly after workout

Your athletic time is too long, you can rest during the exercise.
