Why does your cheek swell after surgery if they don't even operate near your che!

Question:

Why does your cheek swell after surgery if they don't even operate near your cheeks?

I had surgery on wednesday for an impacted tooth in the front of my mouth, and they dug in through my gums and the roof of my mouth, but never touched my cheek. Why is it swelling up so massively when it wasn't even affected? I don't understand how that works.

Answers:

It got dried out, stretched and maybe even poked. You wouldn't have felt it. Also you may have chewed it in your sleep afterward. I do that.

Try cold compresses for ten minutes at a time and tylenol. Good luck!
