Sprained ankle, should I go to the doctor or ER?!

Question:

Sprained ankle, should I go to the doctor or ER?

I am in serious pain. I've taken Naproxen, been elevating my foot and putting ice on and off. I can't walk on it at all. I try and then I scream. I've just been hopping around my house. When should I expect relief?

Answers:

I've had three sprained ankles. They hurt so bad. If it's only a sprained ankle there is nothing really the doctor can do besides give you a brace and maybe some crutches. The best thing to do is to stay off your foot for a couple of days. Keep putting ice on it and elevate it. Take some Ibupofen...works wonders. If it doesn't seem to be getting better in the next couple days then you should head to the ER. But everything should be fine. Sorry to hear about the sprained ankle...no fun!!
