Answers:

Headaches and migraines are both caused by tight neck muscles, migraines do end up a lot tighter and cause other problems though. Your neck muscles go to the top of your head where they connect to muscles going around your head. When the neck muscles get tight they pull the head muscles into pain and that causes the headaches/migraines. The nerves for your eyes go to the back of your head, passing the neck muscles along the way. When the neck muscles are tight they can press onto the nerves for your eyes to cause pains on the back of the eyes where the nerve is attached. More pressure causes the pupils to dilate to make you sensitive ot light. On the way to the top of your head the muscles pass just inside your ears. When your neck muscles are tight they can press onto the nerves going to your ears to cause pains in them as well. The neck muscles share muscles with the back so that migraines can cause muscles to get tight in your back as part of the problem as well. When you have your period the change in your body tightens up muscles a bit which shouldn't be a problem but the tight muscles are already there so the pains kick in for you big time during your cycle. Freeing up your neck and back muscles will give you relief from these pains. Because they are so tight it may be necessary to repeat the neck one several times to get them all freed up and to keep them freed up. Here's how to release those muscles:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about one minute, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side. For both- for best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this this relaxed.

there is a drug called sumatriptan which is available from your doctor. it benefits people most if it's taken before the migraine starts. it's most effective (apparently) make up is via a nasal spray or via injection, but it comes in pre-filled syringes and an injecting system.

it doesn't work for everyone, but if you're migraines are disabling then it might be worth a try.

I find the best way is a damp cloth on the forehead and lay on my back in a quiet darkened room works best for me. I've tried the tablet route and they don't do anything even the ones that are branded as migraine curing.

The only pain killer that has worked on the headache was Tramadol given to me in hospital when I got one but you can't get that over the counter.

You need one of the several migraine-specific drugs out there to find one that fits your particular symptoms. It could be period-induced, but I doubt it.

Tell you doctor, get on a med and see how it works. If it doesn't produce the effect you want (virtually no pain, etc.), it's working. NO migraine med will get rid of all symptoms.

Are you positive that it is a migraine? Any other weird symptoms?

Lie down in a pitch dark room for a few hours
