6 yr old broke his arm 9 days ago. Today has high temp and is vomiting. Could it!

Question:

6 yr old broke his arm 9 days ago. Today has high temp and is vomiting. Could it be shock after this long?

Had his arm put in cast. Yesterday he went for more x-rays that confirmed it is healing correctly. He returned to school a couple of days ago, but has to take it easy for a few weeks and shouldnt play in the playground or do PE. I found out today, that he wasnt taken to the 'care-room', but was left in the playground. my older daughter saw him running around and jumping + leaning on his broken arm. He came home saying he felt dizzy. He now has a high temperature and is vomitting. I know that there has been a bug going round, but could it be due to the broken arm and over doing it. Not sure if to just keep him cool, and deal with like usual temp/vomitting bugs, or go to a & e, for six hour wait, incase worse. Heard that sometimes kids go into shock after someting like this? Anyone been through similar experience, or have medical knowledge? Thanks

Had already phoned NHS Direct, last night. They said probably just a virus, and to keep an eye on him, which is what I was already doing. Just wanted to see if anyone had been through a similar experience. Doctor wouldnt come out, as not a "housebound" patient! Fracture unit didnt open till 9.00 in morn, they said just take hime to doctor to get checked out, so went to doctors when opened. They have no concerns, just virus. Continue the calpol. Sometimes as a mum its hard to know if over worrying or serious, took NHS Direct, Fracture unit and doctors to tell me not to worry!!

Answers:

I'd say take it easy with him for the next 24 hours or so. If it seems to be getting worse go to the er. It's better to be safe, than sorry! But, if there is a bug going around, it's very possible that this is all it is.
