ps i heard this rumor about in the future the use of contacts in the past can cause blindness, my sister said her eye doctor told her it's not true only bad useage can cause that, what do you think???

Answers:

Yes, it's true. Your eye needs oxygen to survive. The more permeable the lens the better. I wore extended wear for years and did a lot of damage to my eyes. I saw a specialist who helped me out and luckily the damage was all reversible. However, it left the potential for more damage there, so I have to be careful when wearing contacts now.
What happens if you wear them continually is the cells in the eye expand due to oxygen starvation and infringe on the iris, eventually leading to blindness.
You can avoid this, though, if you get the best extended wear and only wear it daily. Avoid leaving them in at night to frequently.
The trend towards disposable came about due too fear of infection from foreign particles on the lens from continual taking in and out. It's also more expensive in the long run, from what I've seen, but not too much.
