Disk decompression? should I consider it?!

Question:

Disk decompression? should I consider it?

I have been dealing with a fairly severe spinal injury - T11, T12 had over 30 degrees of rotation, T10, L1,L2 had quite bit as well, but not as much. I had sublexation in at least 6 other vertebrae.

I have already gone to many doctors, the Mayo Spine clinic was the first to actually be able to help me, then I was referred to a Chiropractor - and he's been twisting my spine back around for about a year now. I"ve been on disability due to severe pain. I finished 17 months of PT in March, I am still doing exercises on my own, I do massage therapy, etc, but still I have nerves that fire all the time. Lyrica/Neurontin don't work for me - they help with pain but they cause otherproblems for me. I can't take either.

So I thought about doing the disk decompression. Since it isn't FDA approved I have to pay for it out of my pocket, but it is very expensive, about $5000 but I don't exactly have that kind of money laying around.would it help me? your counsel?

The decompression seems to be getting popular. I have been doing it for a year now, and I am not getting better, as a matter of fact I just got an MRI and they said I will need surgery, so I suppose it helps in gray areas, or minor injuries, but for me it just pro-longed the problem, or better yet it helped me get through the last year but didn't fix the problem. When they stretch you out it feels good and there is relief but as soon as they push it back and take you out of the machine, the pain comes right back.
I went throught the same thing, it's not totally covered by insurance for me (Blue Cross of CA). It seemed to really make me more sore and my pain is through the roof. I have been going to Chiro/pain management. I have to say the IV juicies I get really help me feel better and make it through the day, they contain nutrients and gives your body a boost. I suggest everyone try these. Olympic Athletes may have made this popular. As for my situation, I asked the questions about the diffuse disc bulges. I have them in L2, L3, L4, & S1. I have to figure out what to do as I only have a chiro & Pain Mgt doctor, as I am sure my insurance will make me go through a primary care physician and start the process of whatever it may be. I know i need to get a more resolution MRI. The pain was so much laying there that I felt like my lower back was on fire and the shooting pain down my legs just drove me insane. There wasn't a doctor there to do an IV for the image liquid, so I waited 3 hours to find out they couldn't do all the MRI tests, anyway. Next time when I go back they suggested that I be sedated, or something since I was so un-comfortable. I'm concerned about surgery, but at this point I am so sick of shelling out money for chiro and pain mgt doctor with limited results, yes it temporary relief but, like everyone else, who has time or patience to always be going to appointments and suffer all day in pain. I just want it fixed, go it and cut & splice whatever to make it better. Sorry, just frustrated and in serious pain right now, don't know what to do...thanks and have a good one.
