Does the health care industry shield and protect its own?!

Question:

Does the health care industry shield and protect its own?

Medical errors kill and injure more Americans than terrorism, any war America has waged, and all other factors combined. Here are the facts:

Shocking statistical evidence is cited by Gary Null PhD, Caroly Dean MD ND, Martin Feldman MD, Debora Rasio MD and Dorothy Smith PhD in their recent paper Death by Medicine - October 2003, released by the Nutrition Institute of America.

"A definitive review and close reading of medical peer-review journals, and government health statistics shows that American medicine frequently causes more harm than good. The number of people having in-hospital, adverse drug reactions (ADR) to prescribed medicine is 2.2 million. Dr. Richard Besser, of the CDC, in 1995, said the number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed annually for viral infections was 20 million. Dr. Besser, in 2003, now refers to tens of millions of unnecessary antibiotics. The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million.

". . .The number of people exposed to unnecessary hospitalization annually is 8.9 million. The total number of iatrogenic deaths shown in the following table is 783,936. It is evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the United States. The 2001 heart disease annual death rate is 699,697; the annual cancer death rate, 553,251."

Shocking is putting it mildly . . . These statistics could not exist were it not for the fact that health professionals consistently cover up for each other, medical records get falsified, and people are expected to keep their mouths shut and allow their colleagues to escape liability and oversight.

What are the ways in which to best address this problem of imposed secrecy and deception in the medical community?

Answers:

Oh hell yes, but not because of "evil" but because even though a kid just gets out of med school and know he got his little Resident position. (They give them the MD) behind their name so they can begin to practice. When people die by accidents in hospitals. Theres ppl called "Risk Management" that come up to the floor (before the family is told) the suites meet with the white coats and they say to the family "Im sorry, but your child died of complications of surgery". period. The king thing in L.A. has ME REALLY PISSED OFF. I've started a yahoo group called Hospital Reform. Feel free to check it out but I've just begun. Thanks
