Going blind from pain?!

Question: Going blind from pain?
I took part in a pain experiment today and left the pain level go up way too high. It got REALLY painful and I ended up losing my sight for a short period of time. Thankfully, I was back to normal after a while (not sure how long it lasted) and started responding to the experimenter again. I'm just wondering if anyone can explain the mechanisms behind briefly losing ones sight due to pain?

I'm surprised that whoever is putting this on isn't aware of what could happen and why.
When in pain you tighten up your muscles, back and neck mostly. Your neck muscles go to the top of your head. The nerves for your eyes go to the back of your head, passing next to the neck muscles. When the neck muscles get tight they can press into the nerves for your eyes which starts one out feeling pain on the back of the eyes where the nerve is attached. More pressure causes the pupils to dilate to make you sensitive to light or for things to go blurry. So, my guess is more pressure will cause the nerves to quit working all together to block out anything. Knowing the first two steps has to lead one to believe it's there.
