Best way to prevent waking with leg cramps besides calcium magnesium supplements!

Best way to prevent waking with leg cramps besides calcium magnesium supplements?

Off on and on I have had a problem with waking in the middle of the night with very painful leg cramps. It has been suggested to me that I take a calcium magnesium suppliment. I have tried that idea on two different ocations, and both times it really messed up my stomach very badly, so I cannot use that option.
Early this morning, i woke with a leg cramp again. Recently, I had begun taking this multivitamin suppliment in the form of a powdered drink mix, and I wonder if that could have caused the problem. I have also heard that leg cramps can be caused by not drinking enough, and i'm afraid i am guilty of that.
I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you

Thanks Lantana! Please tell me, how many bananas should i eat?? One a day? I love mushrooms. Does canned mushrooms do the trick though?

Answers:

Eat bananas - the potassium will help to prevent and alleviate the pain of the cramps. Mushrooms have more potassium, but you may not like them. Bananas are a safe bet for just about anyone though.
