Eye injury?
my 2 year old son and my 3 year old daughter were fighting and she hurled a toy car at his eye. He has a black eye now, but he won't let me put ice on it, is there anything else i can do to minimize the swelling and bruising?
Answers:
give him some children's motrin (it has an anti-inflammatory in it to help reduce the swelling). just follow the dosage on the back of the bottle. for him i think it's 1/2 tsp every 6 hours of the suspension fluid.
try using a small ziplock baggie filled with ice and let him hold it-kids like to be in control sometimes so this might help.
the bruising will have to heal on it's own and there's not much you can do to speed the process. takes about 10-14 days.
watch for changes in his eye that might require a trip to the pediatrician
-redness to eye itself
-he starts to complain about not being able to see clearly or having spots in his vision (hard for little ones to explain sometimes)
