When doing bench press I suddenly have a bad strain on my mid-back along my spin!


Question:

When doing bench press I suddenly have a bad strain on my mid-back along my spine on the left side, why?

I was doing bench press yesterday and breathing normally. During the set I felt something tighten in my back. It is almost along my spine on the left side. It feels better when i push it against a wall corner and kind of rub it out.


Answers:

It is difficult to say. Are you benching with a flat back or a competition arch?

Typically, anytime I feel a back strain during bench I adjust my posture, and the sensation disappears. I usually find that I had one shoulder or hip higher than the other, and when I straighten out it resolves the problem.
