Fall off Horse on Hip still sore 3 weeks later?!

Question:

Fall off Horse on Hip still sore 3 weeks later?

Ok .. this will be long ..sorry.
So, 3 wks ago I feel off my horse he refused a jump and I flew off dead weight on my right hip. It went numb for a time and then then numbness went away. Following day to the dr. then monday after that for xrays. Xrays showed no broken hip or pelvis, possible misaligned disks. I went in a week later for more xrays on back, still no results. After 5 days my hip and thigh area had major bruising. The point of my hip had major bruising and throbbing pain for two weeks. Now the point of hip does not throb. But .. I have very tight muscle from top of right buttocks to point of right hip. I have bee working on my computer from home. I sit at kitchen table w/ hot water bottle behind my back makes me more comfortable. Right foot has some numbness on and off, I know this is from disk probably slipped, with pinched nerve. I have had that before. Hip muscle not improving. Is it just time? no physio yet. ideas for pain relief. relaxant?

Answers:

Your piriformis muscle is in spasm and that is pinching on your sciatic nerve. There is a good chance that your SI (sacroiliac) joint is out of alignment which is causing the muscle spasm. It is the joint between your pelvic bone and tailbone. Try to stretch the muscle to release the spasm. You can do this by lying flat, bend both knees but keep feet flat on the floor, then cross 1 leg on the other by putting the outside ankle bone of 1 leg on the top of your other knee (like making a figure 4 with your legs) and with your hands pull the knee up toward your chest. Hold 30 seconds and do it twice on both sides. Feel free to message me if you have questions. Physio will be of great help so go do it.
