Shin Splint?!

Question:

Shin Splint?

I recently started walking about 2 miles again. Before I was bike riding off and on. I am recovering from achilles tendonitis in my right leg. So a litttle running about a day ago mixed with my walk. and now

My left leg hurts.
a couple inches about the foot on the lower leg on the front side. Its a sharpish pain. I can walk but its starting to hurt.
What is it. Just sorness ...or shin splints?
Is it something rest can take care off or do i need splinting...or any other thing....

Please help

thanks

Answers:

It does sound like shin splints, which usually happen when starting a new exercise, like running. The reason is the tiny muscle that are in front your leg are not used to the stress of running.

Rest usually cures it. When starting running, it is best to not overdo it at first, and not do it every day until your muscles get used to the new exercise. After a while the shin splints will go away.
