Leg wound that wont heal?!

Question:

Leg wound that wont heal?

I fell and skinned up the side of my calf about 2 months ago, and there was a area wound of about 2" x3", well the area still has not scabbed over or shown any signs of healing, there does not seem to be any infection, it will only form a ridge around the area of about 1/4". When I keep the leg up it does form a thin hard layer across the entire wound, but as soon as I get up and start walking clear fluid runs down from the wound, and the thin layer is gone. It is not red or inflammed, it just wont heal. Also the area that it is at keeps getting bumped on things, cant wear pants because the leg of the pants will get moist an sticks to it.

Ok well I have done this similar thing to my calf the past 2 summers playing softball and sliding into second. What you want to do is go to the local store, whether it be Walgreens, Target, Wal-Mart or where ever, and pick up a few boxes of non stick 4x4 gauze pads, an ace bandage (so that you can reuse it), and neosporne maximum strength.

During the day while you are out at work, school, shopping or where ever keep it wrapped. Put the neosporne on the wound and on the gauze pads and cover the wound. Make sure to read which side is the non-stick side and then wrap it up with the ace bandage. Keep that on while you are doing your normal daily activies.

At night keep it uncovered. When you take the bandage off go slow. While the bandages are not suppose to stick to the wound occasionally they will. If you find that they are sticking grab a glass and fill it with warm water and soak the gauze pad. Beware it may sting a little. Keep running water over it until the gauze comes off with ease, it may take 8 or 9 glasses of water. When you get out of the shower dab it dry. DO NOT RUB IT WITH THE TOWEL. You may get parts of the scab that go onto the towel, this is fine.

It should take about 3-4 weeks to heal fully.
