What is a good pain reliever for Strep Throat?!

Question:

What is a good pain reliever for Strep Throat?

I have Strep Throat, and Swollen glands and am taking antibiotics. I know that it's an anti-inflammatory but, Ibuprofen does not seem to be taking away the swelling of my tonsils or glands. I need something to help me swallow food comfortably. Preferrably something over the counter. I need something that will take the pain away for longer than 5 minutes, which is typical of any topical throat spray. Any suggestions?

Answers:

You poor thing. I used to get strep throat a lot. What I found works is if you gargle with warm water and salt 3 times (or more if it's really bad strep) a day. The topical throat spray never helped me... it only made me gag.

Best of luck to you, I hope you feel better soon.
