My liver ALT came back at 90.?!

Question:

My liver ALT came back at 90.?

How elevated is this and what is considered normal?

Answers:

Normal ALT values can be anywhere from 0 to 50 depending on the lab. Most labs consider normal to be less than 35 or so. Usually other liver function tests are ordered in conjunction with the ALT to evaluate what may be going on (such as alkaline phosphatase, AST, etc.).
