What could be wrong with him?!

Question: What could be wrong with him?
hi, okay so my friend plays baseball on varsity and he plays pitcher and shortstop (he's 15) and during a scrimage he was playing shortstop and he caught the ball and it hit his thumb wrong and the next day at school he was saying how it really hurt it and he kept holding it cause it hurt....he doesn't think its broken cause in art he could do stuff with it and could write and carry things, but its kinda swollen and hurts to the touch and it hurts him without touching it too...What could be wrong with him?? (sorry wrong section)

Answers:

Actually it's possible it could be broken. I had a broken foot when I was 18, walked on it for 2 days. I was in severe-rip-your-foot-off pain mind ya, but I was still able to use it although I hurt and just wanted to burn up in a pile of ash.
He might have dislocated or hurt a blood vessel it would be in his best interest to get it checked because if it would turn out to be something needing treatment and he didn't get it done, it could heal funkily and might affect his game play.

Hope he gets it sorted out and feeling better. And, you're so sweet to care about him :)

umm you really like this guy :) i mean you really care for him it might be broken just cuz he can do stuff with it dont mean that it is ok ......... an it is really painfull when that happens it happened to me with a basketball but it only lasted a cuple of minutes

Well, you will never know until your friend goes to a doctor. He needs to get it checked out or it can cause him more damage to his hand. You can't just tell what his problem is by looking at it!

it still could be broken, my friend dislocated his index finger when we were playing baseball before and he could move it but it still caused him pain.

He probobly got hit in a blood vessel in his thumb. if it still hurts next time you see him tell him just to put some ice on it.

A possible fracture, or just bruised, if it's not swollen then its probably nothing bad.

Just Have him put ice on it and leave it alone. he probably just jammed it.
