Large funny bone?!

Question:

Large funny bone?

Both of my funny bones are abnoramlly large, friends, parents, and myself have noticed. This causes me to hit them more ofter. They arnt HUGE, but there a lot bigger than regular. What should I do? Does anyone know whats wrong?

Answers:

First of all, there is no such thing as a "funny bone." The only bones in the arm are the humerus (the large bone that goes from your shoulder to your elbow), and the radius and ulna (that go from the elbow to the wrist). The ulnar nerve is what is commonly referred to as the "funny bone." As far as nerves are concerned, size doesn't really matter. You could have a form of neuropathy (although this usually causes numbness rather than over-sensitivity) or another nerve disorder. If it is the size of an actual bone that you can feel, there are several explanations for that, as well. Other than seeing you in person or reviewing some x-rays, it would be impossible to tell. I would see your general practitioner to see if there is a simple explanation, or they could possibly give you a referral to a specialist.

Best of luck!
