Scared to go to thw doctors.. Help?!

Question: Scared to go to thw doctors.. Help?
About 7-8 months ago, i hurt my wrist. At the time, i never thought anything of it, treating it like a sprain and all. It hurt to pick up things, to move it, or even to move my fingers. I was involved in a play which involved me being on my wrist a lot, so that didn't help any. I never went to have it checked by the doctor. Now, the pain has gotten worse. I've got an appoitment tomorrow with my doctor. I'm quite scared of what is going to happen then. One of the people i go to school with (i'm 16) told me that if i fractured/broke it that the doctors would have to re-break it and set it in a plaster. I'm really scared of the pain to follow that. What all is there that i can do to unnerve myself before, during and after my appoitment?

If they did have to re-break it, would it hurt more than it already does? :(

The answers you've gotten so far are probably freaking you out. Do not worry everything will go fine tomorrow. From the description of your symptoms it sounds as though, if you did break something, that you may have fractured your scaphoid 7 months ago. Tomorrow the doctor will want to get a little bit of info about the initial injury and he'll want to know about the pain you're experiencing. He may feel your wrist a little bit and he will probably want to get some x-rays. These are painless and only takes a few minutes. If you have a fracture that healed wrong he probably won't re-break immediately in the office. You may require surgery which will not hurt. And you might need a bone graft and/or some type of hardware like a screw or pin put in your wrist. Don't worry you'll be asleep when all this happens. The main thing right now is just to stay calm and not worry. If the doctor has to do something that will cause you physical pain, he will give you a medication before he does it so you don't have to worry about any pain. Don't worry everything will be fine:)

A few years back I had a 'broom-straw' fracture just above my wrist toward my fingers. It failed to heal correctly. It hurt like hell. When they reset it, the pain was much less and it healed beautifully. Don't worry, you'll be fine. They said I would lose range of movement in that wrist. I'm typing 120 right now and I'm fine. Good Luck to you. (They will give you pain medication, but ya know, I think Aleve did me just fine.)

ive done that, the pain is excuciatingly painful

broke my arm and had it rebroken

it will hurt for a few seconds and thats it or they will totally numb your arm and wrist and you wouldnt feel a fing
