What possibly caused the death of the baby?!
Question:
What possibly caused the death of the baby?
The baby brought to hospital was having a fever, diarrhea and cough, he was also experiencing convulsions. The doctor said that the baby was dehydrated so the baby undergone IV therapy. The baby consume 2000 ml of IV fluid within 4 hours duration approximately but unfortunately the baby died in less than 24 hours. But what made me think was the appearance of the baby now, he is edematous almost the entire body and having bruises or dark spots like a blood clots in his body. Is it suggestive that the caused of the death was fluid overload? Or what could be the other possible reasons for his death and why is it that he was having an edema?
Answers:
Sounds like fluid overload to me as I can't imagine a baby being given that much IV solution in that short of a time. I could be dead wrong though.
