When do these brain zaps go away after coming off cymbalta?!

Question:

When do these brain zaps go away after coming off cymbalta?

I had been on cymbalta for approx. 6 months and have weaned slowly off of it, when I was completely finished I began having these "brain zaps", so I have read that's what they are called, I am on day 6 of being off the cymbalta and are still having them, I have done nothing but lay around and I have missed work, they are so aggrevating but are not painful, I just want to know there is an end in site to these. Typically I go from morning until night and constantly work and clean and take care of home and I am not feeling that now because of these zaps.

Answers:

Cymbalta is in a class of drugs called SSRIs. Contrary to what some doctors tell you, they can be very difficult to come off of. You should contact your physician and let him/her know you are having these symptoms. They can either start you back on the medication at a very small dose and ween you much slower or perhaps give you a different medication in the same class and do the same thing. Many times it takes months to completely ween off these meds without having terrible side effects. Just take it slow and don't worry about it taking so long. Just concentrate on feeling better. You can do it!
