Why am I ALWAYS thirsty?!

Question:

Why am I ALWAYS thirsty?

For roughly the past 6-8 months I have been extremely thirsty ALL the time. I had a pretty laid-back job but I would go through 3 or 4 24 oz glasses of water in a 6 hour shift. I always have a cup of water with me and I never seem fully "quenched." This may be unrelated, but my limbs and joints seem to fall asleep extremely easily as well. Any ideas as to why this could be occuring? I'm not on any medication except for a topical gel for my skin.

I went in to the doctor and it wasn't diabetes or anything to do with my thyroids. They drew some more blood and are going to run some tests but they still have no idea what it is.

Answers:

Tretinoin (or other vitamin A/retinoic acid creams)can cause thirst in up to 3/4 of the people who use it. Topical stuff is absorbed still, just less than pills. Lots of side effects with those drugs.

Do you actualy pee a lot? Are you losing water from your system or is it your mouth turning strange on you?

Things that cause thirst are when your system is NOT dry:
certain drugs (retinoic acid ) and herbs, certain lozenges that interfere with taste like zinc lozenges for colds, rare autoimmune diseases that interfere with you salivary glands, stuffy nose and mouth breathing, allergy, recent viral infections (really bad cold), ongoing physical stress.
