What is the difference between a broken bone and a fractured bone??!

Question:

What is the difference between a broken bone and a fractured bone??

I was told I had broken my elbow in 3 places the other day, and today I was told I had fractured it. What is the difference??

Answers:

There is absolutely no difference between a fracture & a break. They mean exactly the same thing. There is a difference in the severity of a fracture, but it's still a break.
I know, our family has had lots of "fractures". In all of them the bone was completly in half. When my son broke his femur, it was displaced about 3". On all the medical reports it states ...fractured femur.
Don't let anyone tell you that a fracture is not as bad as a break. They obviously don't know what they're talking about
