Why do pain meds hype me up?
I have tarsal tunnel in my foot that is going to require surgery. At night it is extreemly painfull and I could not sleep for nights on end. The doc gave me lortabs for the pain, but they only take the edge off a little and they hype me up. Why is this? I have been on other pain meds in the past and they do the same thing. I am also very hard to anesthesize. Had a shot of 100 mg of demoral and 50 vistiril once and was ready to go dancing, most people would be out like a light.

i have the same problem, my dr says i take enough medication to put a 300# man down. i am not a large girl 5'10" 145#. some things effect people different. my daughter (10ys old) is the same way. sometimes i enjoy being able to take things and still "perform" but others i wish it would work and knock me out. tell your dr that it has that effect and see if they can change it. there are many drugs available and it may take awhile to find the right one
