Swollen arm from volleyball?!

Question:

Swollen arm from volleyball?

i just came back from 2 hours of volleyball practice, and since i haven't played in so long, the inside of my arms (including the wrists) are swollen.

both arms feel kinda hard, and there are tiny red (blood?) dots where the swollen area are.

i don't mind the pain since i'm used to playing sports, but i have practices tuesdays and thursdays. i know my arms will get used to it, but

Q. how do i get the swelling down before thursday afternoon?

thanks :]

warmth or ice?

Answers:

ice is effective for first 48 hours, so ice it right away,
Apply ice directly to the injury. Move the ice frequently, not allowing it to sit in one spot.
Keep the injured body part elevated above the heart while icing--this will further help reduce swelling.
Ice for 15-20 minutes, NEVER LONGER. You can do more damage to the tissues, including frostbite, by icing for too long, and than wait 45- hour to an hour till you ice again
Ice as frequently as you wish, so long as the area is warm to touch and has normal sensation before repeating.

Ice Option 1 -- Traditional:
Use a ziplock bag with ice cubes or crushed ice. Add a little water to the ice bag so it will conform to your body.

Ice Option 2 -- Best:
Keep paper cups filled with water in your freezer. Peel the top of the cup away and massage the ice-cup over the injury in a circular pattern allowing the ice to melt away.

Ice Option 3 -- Creative:
Use a bag of frozen peas or corn from the frozen goods section. This option provides a reusable treatment method that is also edible.

Hope it feels better!
