Shocking chest pain gone in an instant?!

Question: Shocking chest pain gone in an instant?
i woke up today and as i was laying in bed i felt an odd shocking feeling around my sternum. it wasnt my heart because it felt like it was just on the other side of the bone, and when i breathed in or tensed my chest, the pain became sharp. i got out of bed and walked around but it didnt go away. i decided to just sit, watch tv, and hope that it went away, but it wouldn't. it stayed for about 15 minutes before i decided to puff out my chest and take a deep breath. when i did i felt a pop kind of like when you pop your knuckles, and in an instant, the pain disappeared. what could it have been? malfunctioning nerves or something?

Answers:

Probably something with your ribs or with your muscles around your ribs. My best guess would be that it is just gas buildup. It has happened to me before in that general area to the point where I had to lay down on my back. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. It's nothing to do with your heart or vital organs.
