Smashed my finger in a door, and got a cut where the entire later of skin ripped off, how bad is this?

I was cleaning the bread display at work, and if i closed it hard enough it would have chopped off my finger! Well it wouldn't have.. really, I'm just trying to explain what it did, but yeah it cut through the layer of skin on my pointer finger and i ripped the skin off cause it was dangling, it's like i'm missing 2 centimeters of my FINGERPRINT. And when I look at my finger from the side, I can see the layer of skin missing. Should I get this checked out from the doctor? My finger doesn't hurt hurt, but it feels really weird and tingly when i touch it. Help!!
