Why does my jaw crack frequently?!

Question: Why does my jaw crack frequently?
It has been happening for about 1-2 years. It happens whenever I open or close my mouth too wide. It also happens when I chew, but there are times it will stop. My wisdom teeth have been growing in in those years, and the bottom two are impacted. I'm getting them removed tomorrow. I've also been have frequent headaches. Is this due to my wisdom teeth?

Answers:

you may have TMJ dislocation (temporo-mandibular joint). it could happen when your facial muscles are all tensed and then you suddenly open your mouth like a big bite on a big mac or yawn.

usually when you are tensed, like you're thinking of a problem or you are angry, you don't notice it but all your muscles are tensed, even the finer facial muscles. so it could be that the first time you experienced it, your TMJ muscles were tensed and you suddenly snapped for whatever reason. or, you tried to open your mouth too high. usually, each person has his own range or limit to which his jaws can open.

once it happened, you are prone to experiencing it again. first because you are anatomically prone to it, or second, your jaws have not resumed their original alignment. so when it happens again, maybe you can try to relax and when you feel that your TMJ muscles are all relaxed, you can try moving your jaws up, down or sideways like you are trying to find it's best position until you can't feel cracking anymore.

the headache you feel is due to the impinged nerves on the joint. so you just try to correct the alignment when it happens again so it won't press on the nerves.
