What treatment is there for long term joint and bone pain caused by hypercalcaem!

Question:

What treatment is there for long term joint and bone pain caused by hypercalcaemia?

My 55 year old gran was given the wrong dose of calcium supplements by her GP. This caused hypercalcaemia, and then renal failure. After going into hospital, both of these conditions were sorted. However, a year later, she can still barely walk due to excruciating pain in her ankle area. Why is this? And what can be done to help? Thanks. If anyone knows of any other websites where I can maybe get detailed answers, I'd be very grateful. We're just stumped for answers right now.

Honestly, any medication has side effects, the worst being when you run out, the pain comes back, and because you're used to being in less pain, normal pain feels awfully worse. With meds one must also take them regularly. Organs don't like that, nor do blood vessels and bones, really.

There are special little devices that work by giving very smll electric impulses. This is supposed to take one's mind off the other pain. I don't find they work as well as some suggest.

HERE is some VERY interesting reading about a whole different source of pain management, something just about everyone but hippies and est-Asians were sceptical about before these experiments were conducted. An MRI of the pain receptor area of the brain was taken while acupuncture was being performed. This is just one example of one study. It's been found to help bone pain in many cases, as well. Google away! But first read this:
