Ingrown toenail pain reliever?!

Question: Ingrown toenail pain reliever?
Today, I had an ingrown toenail develop very fast. I was just working, and it progressively started hurting, to the point where I can't even be still without it throbbing in pain.

When I was younger, there was the gel? type stuff we would put on our scrapes, and it would make our cuts numb instantly.
~Could I use this on an ingrown toe nail?

I'm looking for real pain relief. I have work tomorrow and have been missing work lately due to another injury to my hand.
Whatcha think?

Ps, at the moment I'm soaking it in warm salt water, and going to try and stick cotton? Or toilet paper? under the nail, they said this will help it grow out straight. Unsure if this is true or not.
~Throw in some input here too :P

I used to get ingrown toenails on both of my big toes. I went to a podiatrist and let me tell you he worked wonders! I had the procedure done last September and I haven't had any ingrown toenails since then. After he removed the sliver of nail, he applied a chemical that destroys the nailbed so the nail will not be able to re-grow. You can't even tell that I had the procedure done. My toenails look normal. Actually, I think they look better than before. For the longest time, I was using warm water and epsom salt but that only did so much. So I finally broke down and went to see this doctor. I hate going to the doctor!! Sad thing is I am an RN!! I guess we make the worst patients. Anyhow, I would totally recommend seeing a podiatrist if it gets too bothersome and if you have medical insurance. Another trick that I did before I finally went to the doctor was just using a bandaid to pull the skin back from the nail. This really helped me but you have to make sure you have a good bandaid that is going to stick and not come off. I used the fabric bandaids. I would put one end on the side that I had the ingrown and pull it tightly around my toe and wrap at an angle on my toe. Don't do it too tight or the bandaid will come off. It really takes the pressure off! GOOD LUCK! I know how painful those things are.......

My own personal experience!

Try this remedy:

Soak the foot in warm water for 10 minutes twice a day. Trim the nail straight across. See a doctor if your toe is red or oozes pus or fluid, or the nail bed is still sore after two days.

You may like to try taking a homeopathic remedy called Silcea 30c and see if that helps. Silicea is known to help in cases of ingrown toenails and associated pain and suffering. It just might help u as well.
