How soon will the pharmacy refill my prescription?!

Question:

How soon will the pharmacy refill my prescription?

Going out of town for 2 weeks. I will run out before my scheduled return. Would be much easier to get refilled prior to leaving...but I am not sure the pharmacy is going to be easy to cooperate with..they usually are not.. The prescription was last refilled on May 20th.
Someone told me the earliest to get refilled would be around the 17th.
Anyone know the protocol?
Not sure if it matters. Local pharmacy is in NC and the prescription is for darvocet.

Alternately, any help with closest thing over the counter would be appreciated. I know this is the cool-aide of all pain killers, but I do not want to go to anything any stronger.

Answers:

What you heard was right. The earliest a pharmacy will usually fill a pain medication is three days before it's due date.

Darvocet is a very low potency pain medication. It contains a lot of tylenol. I would recommend taking tylenol instead. 1 darvocet tablet contains 650 mg of tylenol. Be careful not to exceed 4000 mg of tylenol in one day.
