How can I get rid of headaches around my eye?!

Question:

How can I get rid of headaches around my eye?

For about 2-3 years now I've been getting these terrible headaches in the back upper area of my eye. I have yet to find out what triggers them, if anything. I'm usually just doing regular activities and all of the sudden I have this sharp pain in my eye. I want to just poke my eye in to get rid of the pain. It's really the only place I get headaches and it only last for a few seconds, then my whole head begins to throb so asparin wouldn't help the initial pain.

Can anyone tell me how to make them sto?\p?

I have glasses that I got october of last year, so I shouldn't need a new prescription yet. Also, I get them when I'm in the car or even just sitting at home so I doubt it's sinus. . .Thanks anyways!

I get these types of headaches every now and then as well. But if you're asking how to get them to stop permanently, I am not sure that even a Doctor can tell you how to do that. If you're asking how to get the individual headaches to stop when they start, then maybe I have an answer for you!

I would tell you to take medication for them... but it sounds like you want other ways of getting rid of them. (I take prescription migraine medication or Tylenol for Migraines. I'm not saying you are having migraines... but you might be.) I also use an herbal pack that has been in the freezer and put that over my eyes. If you don't have one of those handy just use a very cold wash cloth with ice inside of it.

While using either the herbal pack or washcloth, make sure you apply as much pressure as possible right where your headache is centered. I SWEAR by that method for any type of headache. It is also very important to be in a room with no noise and it is dark. (I have small children so that last part is a difficult one to achieve... but I usually try to find a way because it is the fastest way to get the headache to go away.) Usually when I use the washcloth method while I'm in a dark, quiet room I fall asleep.

If I wake up and the headache is still there, I know I'm in trouble. That is when I really try to get my hands on Tylenol for migraines. (If I am out of my Rx.)
Hopefully you'll find something that helps!
