Shooting pain in my arm and neck?!

Question:

Shooting pain in my arm and neck?

ok, before i go to the doctor, i wanted to find out if any of you experience what i get. sometimes i get a slight pain in my rght thumb, from the very top, then it travels up my arm and into my neck and the right side of my jaw. it doesnt hurt too much, its a subtle pain, and this is why i dont notice it sometimes. i was wondering if you know what this is based on your experience and if ishould worry. thanks.

Answers:

The nerve root that gives sensation to the thumb and index finger is the C6 nerve.
If you put your head up, and bend your head toward the side affected, this would tend to put pressure on that nerve, and if it was the nerve causing the problem, would tend to make it hurt more. That would be a positive spurling's test.
