Why am I always tired?!

Question:

Why am I always tired?

I'm a 23-year-old male and overall am very healthy. I exercise and eat a healthy diet. However, it seems I am always in need of a nap. Even after sleeping for 8 hours, I could easily go back to bed and sleep for the rest of the day. I work and go to school so I don't have this luxury, but I'm always trying to keep myself from "dozing off." I'm thinking about seeing the doctor. Does anyone know why I'm always tired?

Answers:

this is unusual for someone as young and active as you are.

i would make that appt to see your dr.

several things could play a role here

-anemia (low iron in the blood) the most common side effect of this illness is severe fatigue. i have this and take iron tablets bought over the counter daily. easily diagnosed w/bloodwork and easily fixed too.

-dehydration. since you exercise alot-you might not be getting enough fluids to maintain your electrolyte balance in your body (even if you are drinking). this too could cause you to be tired frequently

-restless sleep. even if you aren't waking up from it-you could be tossing and turning in your sleep which could make you more tired during the day.

the only way to find out the exact cause is to see your dr and have a complete workup done. being tired all the time is an awful feeling!!

good luck to you
