Knot on rib?!

Knot on rib?
I have a knot on my rib and have for a while now, it kind of moves when I move or press it and hurts...Could it have been broken and I not have known it... {I used to play rough and act silly} It's on my lower left and when I suck my stomach in, you can see it sticking out...
Any ideas? I am making a dr. appt. but I just wanted some opinions for now....

no way of knowing without excision or a biopsy. if it moves, more than likely it is benign i.e. cyst or lipoma (fat). however, cannot rule out cancer i.e. sarcoma. see your family doctor.
