Day-to-Day problems faced by Nurses in rendering flawless healthcare services. Which are the things that bother them the most. Which are the other problems that hold the Nurses from being in a good form the whole day of their service

Answers:

What bothers me is the rapidly approaching nursing shortage. Our workload and job demands are increasing. Patients in the hospital are sicker than they were even 5 years ago and individual patients require more of our direct care. We are pulled in so many directions that it is difficult to decide what to do next. We are consumed by tons of paperwork that is required to maintain certain standards, but that nobody cares about or reads. Many of us work 12 hour shifts and often go without a meal or a bathroom break. I sometimes feel I am running around and accomplishing very little. The new generation graduating from college doesn't have the work ethic that the "older" nurses have and want to go straight into management positions without working in patient care. How are they suppose to understand the nurse/patient relationship if they don't experience it? Although we are paid better than a lot of jobs, nursing salaries are not consistent throughout the country. I work at a Magnet hospital and we are paid on the low end of the scale. Kind of strange for a level one trauma center and teaching hospital. We are not valued by our employers, the doctors, or our patients' families. Nursing is the number one least desirable job in the US. It's only going to get worse! I am a baby boomer and you don't usually see nurses working near retirement age.

PS
I love what I do or I wouldn't do it. The patients are great and usually very appreciative of everything we do.
