The sternocleidomastoid muscles attach to your skull below your earlobes and run diagonally across your throat to the top of your breastbone and collarbone. If you strained any of those muscles and they are spasming you could feel it behind your ear. Take it easy for a few days, stretch, and use ice for 10 minutes at a time. Pay attention to your posture while lifting and also note if you clench your teeth while lifting. Either/both will increase the possibility of causing this muscle to spasm.
