Why cant I sleep through the whole night? and what can I do?!
Question:
Why cant I sleep through the whole night? and what can I do?
I go to sleep and wake up a couple hours later, then stay up for an hour or so and go back to sleep. This happens almost every night and I wake up completely exhausted and normally have to take a nap during the day.
Answers:
I can almost guarantee that you have a hormonal imbalance as this used to happen to me.
Go to doc and have a 'hormonal screening' blood test. They need to look at your oestrogen, progesterone and other hormone levels.
Then you will need to either go on a pill (Yasmin or Diane is good - as good as a pill can be?!#$) OR use a natural hormone replacement (like progesterone cream - easy to research online).
In the meantime try some natural and easy to access solutions.
* Magnesium (pref. with calcium included) - this is a muscle relaxant - often athletes use it for cramps but for you, it will help you sleep - all night and will not make you drowsy.
* Camomile tea
* Relaxing exercise - yoga, pilates, stretching, deep breathing
* A nice neck massage with lavender pure essential oil (many companies now make blends of a few oils that help you to sleep).
* Avoid stimulants (coffee, too much food) and/or stress after 4pm.
Good luck!
